Trial by Fire No. 15
The undersigned, wanting to convince himself to what extent the fire safety cabinets manufactured by Mr. F.J.P. Trousselot, Royal patented manufacturer of improved fire safety cabinets in Rotterdam, has subjected a cabinet manufactured in his factory to the following test, which to date has immediately been met. On a piece of land in the municipality of Nootdorp, belonging to Mr J.H.F. Berghegge in Delft, which he kindly donated for this purpose, he has erected a square fence there with various sizes in our Dutch "El" sizes. as then the space between the box and the walls of the fence was filled with fuel, shavings, chips, bunches of branches, peat, etc. and this mass was set on fire on all sides. Constantly supplying new fuel, when the cupboard had been exposed to such a heat for a long time that the fire glow was unapproachable and the cupboard glowing, he allowed the fire to burn out, cooled the cupboard and opened it and it turned out that everything contained therein valid books, papers, insurance policies, a bank billet, thrown in by the manufacturer in full confidence and in the full conviction of the solidity of his cupboard, were not only found intact and undamaged, but were not even warm themselves. So that this test was completely successful, the cabinet met its purpose in every respect, and he thanked the manufacturer, Mr. F.J.P. Trousselot, must do all justice by bringing this to public notice, as it has proven that its fire safety cabinets, manufactured in such a solid manner, deserve all confidence.
