A Dutch floor lamp designed by J.J.M. Hoogervorst (Alkmaar 1918-1982) for Anvia, during the 1960s. 

An adjustable floor lamp in height and width, in the middle with a rotary knob for loosening and tightening.

 

Johannes Joseph Maria Hoogervorst was a Dutch painter and industrial designer who is best known for his many lamp designs and lighting designs that he had carried out by the company ANVIA as well as through his own design agency Interdesign. ANVIA was a regular client for whom he designed a new collection every year until 1982.

 

ANVIA, In 1906 Max Liebert took over a decoration company in Berlin from Lessmann Moset. In almost 30 years, Max managed to build a successful decoration and lighting company, consisting of 3 factories. Shortly after the National Socialist government took office, Max Liebert was deprived of 2 of the 3 companies. The factory that made lighting fixtures was moved from Berlin to Almelo, The Netherlands. In 1933 this factory was registered as "Algemeene Nederlandsche Verlichtings-Industrie Almelo (ANVIA)" Together with his son Werner and son-in-law Fritz Kaufmann, Max and Käte Liebert managed to build a successful company in the Netherlands again.

This sofa is made and signed by H. Pander & Zonen, "Hollandia". The sofa has been completely renovated and upholstered. A beautiful sofa and signed by Pander at the top of the backrest. And the mark branded on the underside of the sofa. The sofa exists of a wooden frame with fabric upholstery with brass settings, raised on 2 lion claw legs.

Gouda Holland pottery lamp, 1918

 

An Art Nouveau painted lamp base from the pottery factory Gouda Holland. A beautiful scene of flowers and a vase with flowers painted in panels. The lamp base with crackle is painted in the colors light brown, green, blue and yellow under glossy lacquer. Bottom of the hexagonal base marked and dated August 1918 (left of the mark). Model number is 684. The lampshade is not new and is made of linen on the outside. The wiring is European and in working condition.

 

The Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland from Gouda produced pottery between 1898 and 1965. The factory is also known as Plazuid and PZH. Products from the factory are summarized under the term: Gouda pottery. Especially in the early period, South Holland made the so-called glossy plateel in Art Nouveau style. Later, matt glaze was mainly produced and designs are also becoming more modern. Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland is also known for its crockery and decorative objects made of earthenware. Gouda pottery is the collective name for painted and glazed decorative pottery, made in the Dutch city of Gouda.

An Elephant footstool, made in brown leather and firmly filled with straw, by Dimitri Omersa, 1960s

The elephant was the first piece designed by Dimitri Omersa when it took over the art of making leather animals from “old bill” circa 1959

Dimitri Omersa, a Yugoslav by birth and his wife Inge came to England in 1955 and settled at Lavender Croft.

Dimitri Omersa found work in the leather trade and whilst representing a small leather company in Hitchin with 'Old Bill' at Liberty's. 'Old Bill' was due to retire and a deal was struck for Dimitri Omersa to take over the business and continue the supply of pigs to Liberty's. The brand name Omersa was established at this point. The business was re located to Hitchin in 1958 and before long Dimitri Omersa had ideas for other animals.

His first new piece was an elephant, followed by the donkey and rhinoceros.

The grape lamp with 2 bunches of grapes on each side are opalescent white surrounded by green leaves on a brass base. The brass base of the lamp is graceful. The foot has a scalopped pattern and is hand-blown round glass. It is an imposing lamp with beautiful atmospheric light.

This pay table is a piece of furniture where a table top is placed on a chair in such a way that when the table is not in use, the table top pivots to a vertical position and becomes the back of the chair. Under the seat a beautiful hand-carved edge, in which a drawer is hidden. The 4 legs of the chair with stretchers have 2 different shapes. The two bottle legs indicate that the drawer is on that side. When the table is unfolded as a chair, you see a beautiful hand-carved pattern of 2 columns with tall Acanthus leaves and flower. When the backrest is back as a table, there is room on each side for a chair to slide so that they could proceed to pay.
