The Hans Ottmann company was founded in 1921 as a belt manufacturing company. Until the mid-1950s, the company mainly produced decorative and everyday objects made of brass and copper.
In 1960, the Hans Ottmann company, as the newly named MEKO company, exhibited for the first time at the International Ironmongery Fair in Cologne with a revolutionary program for bronze front doors.
In the following years and decades, fittings were manufactured in combinations of bronze, brass and brass/chrome. For about 20 years, MEKO has been producing solid stainless steel door handles. Front door handles with variable supports, adjustable to any hole spacing, are particularly popular.
MEKO Metallkunst Ottmann GmbH offers more than just a "standard range". Our long-standing, experienced employees manufacture door handles, front panels and everything related to front doors from precious metal according to customer specifications and drawings. Surface finishes such as brass-coloured PVD coatings (weatherproof) or seawater-resistant stainless steel "Poligrat" surfaces are also available.
Fittings have been manufactured for projects such as the "Neue Pinakothek" in Munich, designed by architect von Branka, the "Peninsula Hotel" in Hong Kong, designed by architect Phillip Starck, and mosques in Algeria, Bahrain and Oman, among others. MEKO has been supplying stainless steel and copper-plated door handles for exclusive residential complexes in China for several years.
